Give, Get and Grow: How to Give and Receive Performance Feedback

June 18, 2026, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Biltmore Park, Asheville

Dr. Betty Farmer

Feedback is the fuel that drives performance. It’s also a two-way dynamic. We need leaders who are good at giving feedback AND we need team members who are good at receiving feedback.  Yet many managers and supervisors aren’t comfortable giving feedback or aren’t sure they know how to give it effectively. Even fewer people have received training on how to receive feedback. Additionally, we need to build confidence in how to give feedback to people in higher positions (upward feedback).

This interactive, day-long workshop addresses this problematic gap. As a result of attending this session, participants will:

•Understand the role of feedback in the overall performance management process

•Appreciate why frequent and timely performance feedback is essential in the workplace

•Understand the differences between positive, negative and constructive feedback

•Build skills in giving constructive performance feedback, including upward feedback

•Develop skills in receiving constructive performance feedback

•Role-play using several models for giving performance feedback

•Identify strengths and opportunities for improvement in both giving and receiving feedback
