Course Description

Ages 7-14
** Please ensure that you are enrolling for camps with a Family Account. **

This camp is designed to nurture creative and critical thinking in a fun, supportive environment. Children who are 7 (by August 31st) through 14 years old may choose from a variety of projects that range from creating a Rube Goldberg Machines, filming a news broadcast, creating an invention, solving a world problem, myth-busting, crime scene investigation, archaeology, and more. Children will be working in small groups with an approximate ratio 1:5, providing a personalized creative experience for each child. Participants will also have the opportunity to participate in a “maker space” to complete creative challenges.  On Friday, parents are invited to a showcase of the creative projects developed during the week.   Registration is limited to the first 60 children.  Scholarships are available.  Please contact Lisa Bloom at bloom@wcu.edu for information regarding scholarships.

Notes

Lunch will be provided at WCU’s Catamount Café (the main dining hall). The dining hall is an all-you-care-to-eat facility with plenty of options to choose from. Instructors will monitor students during this time and help our younger participants with their meals. Please plan to send a water bottle and an afternoon snack daily.
