Course Description

Veterans are an untapped talent pool ready to fill in-demand roles in your organization. Hiring veterans is a proven strategy for gaining high-performing employees with low turnover. Building on your current strategic organizational development initiatives and engaging veteran cultural competency understanding, you can deliver on building a more effective organization when you are veteran ready!

Veterans bring expertise and commitment proven through leadership and teamwork, problem-solving and decision-making, ethics and attention to detail, global perspectives, and adaptability in challenging situations. Civilian perceptions of veterans' skills and abilities is a significant barrier to veteran engagement in post-military employment. When organizations understand military skill sets and how those skills translate to the civilian workforce, they can more effectively evaluate veterans as candidates for employment and engage their skills in the workforce.

In this workshop, you will gain the following competencies to help make your organization veteran ready:

  • Understand and explain the value of and make the business case for hiring veterans.
  • Impact the cultural competency of your organization, focusing on awareness of issues specific to the veteran community.
  • Implement strategic recruiting and hiring of veterans by understanding and sharing the skills and capabilities veterans offer.
  • Prepare to capably onboard, development, and retain veterans in your organization.
  • Identify the sources and strategies most productive for recruiting and hiring veterans.
